the food thing! though i guess i should be clear, i don't expect to get paid for this since this is an intimate thing for thanksgiving. i just couldn't think of a better way to put it.
(i'm a culinary student so i think working for Weisz Mfg might be a little beyond my ability right now)
Nonsense. You're providing a service and you'll be compensated appropriately. I don't work for free, and I would never expect my friends to do so either.
well i don't like to brag or anything, but i've come up with the absolute perfect mixture of spices to make a pumpkin spice flavor better than anything you could find in a store, if that's the kind of thing you'd be interested in! and it comes in any form you could want. latte, cookie, pie, even dog food one time (i didn't feed it to Zwei, though)
i can make no promises on the status of your socks, but i can make a PSL better than any Starbucks. again, not to brag. but i think i'm okay to brag about this.
how about this: i'll get some of my spices together and bring the mix with me when i set up my dia de los muertos stand. then you can come by and i'll let you sample! feel free to try some of my marzipan while you're at it, too, if you think you can handle that much sweetness and you don't have a nut allergy.
No food allergies, thankfully. And that's good because you'll never catch me anywhere near a Starbucks. I prefer the small local cafes, that's where all the quality is. The day I drink mass-produced coffee is the day my tongue shrivels up and falls off.
heehee, well, i'm sure all these local businesses greatly appreciate your support! you know, it's places like those where the REAL innovation happens. not in some lab in a big city thousands of miles away from here.
i feel like we probably should've started talking sooner, but either way this seems like the beginning of an extremely good friendship ^_^
That's sweet of you to say. I really do need new friends. I've spent way too much time holed up in my apartment lately. I can't let what's happening get to me the way it has been.
well, any friend of Jen's is a friend of mine, but even if you didn't know her then i'm really glad we started talking!
it's hard to remember that we need to keep our chins up, especially when things get really rough like this, but that's when i just let myself remember that if i stay holed up in my room all the time, i deprive everyone i love of my beautiful smiling face! :D
...oh no, that sounded really egotistical of me... i promise it was just a joke!!!
[haha. ha. ha. okay. this is maybe not the best time in the world for anyone to bring up the idea of feeling wanted. Lina takes a second but at least she can cover for it!]
sorry, i was just thinking about the last time "i" went to a spa... jen took me there, but it wasn't really me, but it also kind of was? i remember feeling a little out of place but really enjoying it there, and it's not like i look any different so they should still remember that i've been there before if it's the same spa
oh um anyway! yes! i really like the idea of a spa day :D i need to get better at this "self-care" thing anyway i... almost feel like we should go within the next couple days, just so whatever's going to happen to retrospec this month doesn't get in the way
oh my gosh i keep forgetting that this is just something that you can call up the spa and do then again maybe this is just a privilege you have? either way i'm ready to do this, i've really needed to take some time out to not stress out so much
and making a new friend while i do it sounds like a great time to me :) thank you, i mean it
Well I mean anyone can call them up and book some time. But they know who I am, we're getting the luxury package You're going to feel like a goddess or I'm not Vera Weisz.
heehee :3 well lina g is very pleased to make your acquaintance i'll try to look my best when i show up, too after all, i want to make a good first impression! you can text me when you have the time booked and i'll meet you there?
["her best" is kind of just her autumn outfit, but she still remembers the way to the spa and she's even there early! it seems like she's extremely serious about doing this right. when she sees the face she recognizes from the network, she waves and smiles genuinely.]
Vera? It's Lina. It's really nice to meet you in person!
[Vera's also dressed in her autumn casuals, giving the other girl a polite wave and a warm smile as she approaches.]
Hey Lina! Sorry for doing this so short notice, it didn't occur to me until the drive over that you might have interrupted whatever you already had planned tonight.
[she'd been having problems with the marzipan anyway and she'll just. figure it out later, she decides as she waves it off. at the stand whenever she gets out there to set it up. one day won't kill her. the point is that even if she's being a little performative because Vera's a new person whom she wants to impress, it's hard not to be sincere.]
Your outfit is so cute! I love your boots, oh my gosh. You wear it all so well.
[Compliments will get you everywhere, Lina. Vera swells, a giggle escaping as she flicks her hair over her shoulder.]
Thank you! One of the perks of spending time at home is that you have a lot of time to work on your outfits.
I love your sense of color, by the way? It really makes your hair pop, and that scarf is just adorable. We have to go shopping some time. I'd love to get your input.
Heehee, thank you! [nope, she's not going to preen about it. well, not too much.] The hair color isn't mine, if you know what I mean, but I'm just trying to work with it. I don't do a lot with fashion, but I know what works, I'd love to go shopping with you sometime. It would really help me to get advice from an obvious expert.
[the flattery will definitely not stop anytime soon. even if they're obviously here for a purpose, well, they are both early, right? they can talk like this for a bit.]
Trust me, I know exactly what you mean. [She flicks her eyes towards her own silver hair.]
Oh stop, I'm far from an expert. I only know as much as I do because I've talked with so many experts. Spending a year in Paris certainly helped as well, I swear they're so ahead of the curve.
Oh my gosh, you've lived in Paris? [she puts her hands to her mouth and smiles widely from behind them.]
I'm a little jealous. I've never been able to go anywhere outside the city. I think there was supposed to be a, um, residency as part of my program at school? But then everything happened and they might have decided to change that. [and she shakes her head.] Sorry. I'm rambling. It sounds like it was a really wonderful time, though.
I really fell in love with the culture there, I'd really like a chance to live there again. If you ever get the chance to go I definitely recommend it.
I don't know if I'll ever have the chance to go, but it sounds lovely. [she's smiling as she thinks about it; she's pretty intrigued by the entire idea, really, but doubts she'll ever be that fortunate. not that her life hasn't been pretty fortunate to begin with or anything, all told.]
It sounds like you've been able to go to a lot of places and see some really cool things. [given where it all came from, it must be an enormous amount of pressure, she doesn't say.] Is Paris your favorite place you've been, or is there anywhere else? I'm sorry, I just... I've never left the city, so anybody who can just go places is really interesting to me.

You better not be lying.
If you can make a pumpkin spice latte that knocks my socks off you'll have my heart forever.

It's also nice to feel pretty
...Which reminds me that it's been ages since I've had a spa day.
Care to join me?
